The new bike has been previewed in concept form at the Intermot Show in Cologne, and it features a 1,000 cc liquid-cooled V-twin engine that sits in a lightweight aluminium frame.
Included in the specification will be anti-lock brakes, traction control and a slim line luggage system that shouldn’t add too much extra width.
Whether that’s going to be enough remains to be seen, though. The V-Strom 1000 will be entering an increasingly crowded and competitive market sector, and it’ll have to try and steal sales from rivals such as the Triumph Explorer and BMW R 1200 GS.
