2014 Harley-Davidson Low Rider

First seen in 1977, the Low Rider nameplate is making a return to the Harley-Davidson range after a five-year absence.

Given that moniker, an unladen seat height of only 680 mm (26.8”) comes as no surprise. What’s more, a tailored riding position can be achieved via a removable seat pad that shifts the rider forward by 38 mm (1.5”) and an adjustable handlebar riser which moves by 60 mm (2.4”) fore and aft.

With loads of chrome, available five-spoke mag-style wheels and a ‘wrinkle black’ instrument cluster mounted on the fuel tank, the Low Rider’s styling details have clearly been inspired by the 70s original. Of course, Harley-Davidson is also offering plenty of accessories to enable each owner to achieve a unique look for their bike.

Power comes from the 1,690 cc Twin Cam 103 engine that develops 75 bhp (56 kW / 76 PS) with 126 Nm (93 lb/ft) of torque according to the European EEC/95/1 test standard (the American SAE method yields a slightly higher figure of 99 lb/ft or 134 Nm). Those outputs are delivered via a six-speed transmission.
