2015 Honda CRF250R announced

Following last year’s comprehensive update, Honda is giving its CRF250R motocross bike some further enhancements for 2015.

Key among them is the adoption of a 48 mm Showa Separate Front Function Triple Air Chamber front fork. That’s a very long name, but essentially the unit splits the compression and damping functions between the two fork legs. The advantages of using air suspension instead of traditional steel springs are improved stability and control, plus there’s a valuable weight saving of 1.3 kilos (2.8 lbs) too.

Powering the CRF250R is a 249 cc single-cylinder motor that produces 37.5 bhp (28.0 kW / 38.0 PS) with 26.5 Nm (19.5 lb/ft) of peak torque. The 2015 model gains recalibrated fuel injection settings which, together with the new bigger diameter mufflers, are claimed to offer a better throttle response. What’s more, the specification now includes a mode selector button that gives the rider a choice of three engine maps.

Completing the upgrades are a larger 260 mm wave-pattern front brake disc, refreshed graphics and the fitment of Dunlop MX52F/MX52 tyres.
