For the Chinese market, where the Verano is going to be known as the Wei Lang, power will come from a 1.5 litre Ecotec turbocharged petrol engine.
Developing 166 bhp (124 kW / 168 PS) with 250 Nm (184 lb/ft) of peak torque, it’s mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Average fuel consumption from that combination is a claimed 46.3 mpg (6.1 l/100km), but performance figures haven’t been released yet.
A North American version of the latest Verano is expected to be announced soon.
